Sony Xperia P - A Real Gem

During the CES 2012, Sony unveiled the Sony Xperia S. This is also Sony's first handset after parting ways with Ericsson. After that during the MWC 2012, Sony added two more Xperia line handsets, they are the Sony Xperia P and Sony Xperia U. These handsets are known as Mid-Range Android handsets. In this article, we will talk about the Sony Xperia P. Read on!

Let us start with the phone's display. This handset packs a 4" screen that is equipped with Sony's Reality Display technology and Sony's WhiteMagic. The WhiteMagic is capable of allowing you to see the phone's screen even under bright and direct sunlight. The phone's screen is a bit smaller than its sibling the Xperia S which boasts a 4.3" display. But then again, this is easier to pocket than its sibling. Sony uses their Mobile Bravia Engine on the phone's display. This is also the very same technology that Sony uses for their televisions. The phone's screen colors are vibrant and glossy too.

When it comes to the phone's design, this handset shares the same design as its sibling the Xperia S. As we all know, the Xperia S is the flagship for the Xperia Series or line. In this handset, you will see that familiar looking transparent strip located at the bottom part of the phone. This is also known to signal you whenever you get phone calls and text messaged. It can do so by lighting up that transparent strip. This handset also features an aluminum unibody case. If you think that the Xperia S and Xperia U are better than this, then think again. The phone's siblings are using plastic unibody case. The phone's metal design makes this handset lighter and yet it gives you that sturdy feel that is quite hard to find on smartphones today. The Xperia P is also thin.

The handset currently runs on Android Gingerbread. But do not let that put you down. This handset will soon get the famous Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade. This handset packs a powerful dual-core processor which clocks at an amazing 1GHz speed. Everything on this handset runs smoothly and fast. This handset packs an 8MP Shutter with a resolution of 3264 x 2448 pixels. The phone's video recording is at 1080 pixels and at 30 frames per second (fps).

As you can see, these are just some of the reasons why this Sony Xperia P is considered as a gem. It is packed with features that no ordinary Mid-Range Android handsets can offer you.

Design And Screen Quality Compared On The New Nokia Lumia 900 And The Samsung Galaxy S3

This year we expect to see the Windows Mobile operating system challenge the Android platform more than ever before thanks to some excellent software improvements. The Nokia Lumia 900 is regarded by many as the leading Windows device on the market thanks to some excellent styling and superb specification. We compare this handset to the Samsung Galaxy S3, the brand new Android phone that replaces the best selling Galaxy S2. We take a look at styling and screen quality on both of the devices.

The Nokia Lumia 900 is one of the most eye catching devices currently available and therefore it easily outshines the Galaxy S3 for design. The model is similar in looks to the other Lumia handsets that are available although the materials used on this handset do feel more premium than on its sibling models. Rather than adopt the curved chassis used by many modern phones the Lumia 900 sports a much more angular design. The main body is made from a high quality polycarbonate material and its constructed from a single piece of this material which helps to make the phone feel very robust. In terms of dimensions the phone measures 127.8 x 68.5 x 11.5mm and weighs 160 grammes. The Samsung Galaxy S3 boast some super specification but unfortunately the design of the model is not quite as impressive. We would have liked to see the model sport similar styling to the very modern looking Galaxy S2 but Samsung have opted to use a more pebble like design that is similar to numerous other handsets. In a bid to keep the weight of the handset down to a minimum the phone uses a very lightweight plastic material. Although this enables the device to weigh just 133 grammes the material does not feel very robust in your hand which is a shame from a flagship model. Considering that this model sports a 4.7 inch display the physical dimensions are very good. The model has an incredible depth of just 8.6mm which makes it one of the slimmest devices on the market. In terms of styling the Lumia 900 easily eclipses its rivals thanks to great build quality and a modern design.

One area where the Samsung Galaxy S3 does gain the upper hand on its rival is for screen technology. The model features a large 4.7 inch screen which makes use of AMOLED technology to produce excellent image quality and good levels of brightness. The model is capable of displaying a resolution of 1280 x 720 which means that a superb pixel density of 306PPI is offered. The Nokia Lumia 900 uses a much smaller 4.3 inch screen which also makes use of AMOLED technology. The resolution displayed by this model is much lower than the Samsung at 800 x 480 pixels. This is still a very high standard and material does still look very impressive but the pixel density drops to just 217PPI. When you look at the two screens side by side there is more detail on the Samsung model while the viewing angles are also better.

The Nokia Lumia 900 and the Samsung Galaxy S3 are two of the leading handsets on their respective operating systems. The Lumia device boasts superior build quality and a more striking design but the Samsung handset does offer a larger and more impressive display perfect for web browsing and playback of multi media files.

The New iPhone 5 Will Boast An Updated iCloud Service

There were two major smartphone releases that consumers were looking forward to in 2012. We have recently seen one of them which is the impressive Samsung Galaxy S3 which was unveiled at the beginning of May. That leaves just the one major release which is the iPhone 5. This new phone will feature an updated version of the iOS operating system. One area that will benefit from this updated platform is the excellent iCloud storage service.

The iCloud feature was launched in 2011 and enables users to have their precious data automatically stored. All users of iOS devices are allocated a set amount of storage space which can store a variety of material from photographs to documents. The advantage of a system such as this is that it enables data to be shared between various devices. Users can now take a photograph with their iPhone 4S and view the image on their iPad when they return home. In addition to the excellent sharing facilities iCloud is also perfect for protecting valuable data. If a handset is lost or stolen material is still safe and can be easily transferred to a new device. This system has proved a big success and the new iPhone 5 will boast an even better version of iCloud. It is expected that the updated service will be unveiled at the WWDC 2012 event which is where the new iOS6 operating system will be officially unveiled. There are also rumours that Apple may take the opportunity to reveal the new handset at this event although it is likely that they will hold a separate launch for this eagerly anticipated model.

Apple are looking to make iCloud a much more social experience on the new iPhone 5. Users will have the ability to automatically share groups of photographs with friends and family and these people will also have the ability to comment on the images. This may prove to be a very wise move from Apple with photo sharing software such as Instagram already proving a massive success with consumers. Apple are keen to change the personal Camera Roll facility into a fully functioning photo and video sharing application. There are numerous rumours circulating about other features that will be incorporated on the new operating system. It is expected that the Maps service will be completely overhauled and there is also a strong possibility that we may be treated to a brand new user interface to accompany the new design that the iPhone 5 will offer.

The iPhone 5 is certainly going to be one of the major smartphone releases of this year and Apple are keen to improve the iOS software so it compliments this new model. The iCloud service looks like one area that will be affected more than most by this update and users will soon be able to easily share video and photo content with other users.
