Let us start with their display screens. The Sony Xperia U comes in with a 3.5" LED-backlit LCD touch screen with a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels and pixel density of 280 ppi. On the other hand, the HTC One V packs a 3.7" Capacitive touch screen with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels and pixel density of 252 ppi. The One V may pack a bigger screen, but the Xperia S packs a higher screen resolution.
Let us now move on to their processors and memory. I will start with the Xperia U again. It packs a dual-core processor using STE U8500 chipset and it clocks at 1GHz. The handset also ships with 4GB worth of internal storage and 512MB worth of RAM. Unfortunately, there is no option for additional memory storage space via a microSD slot. On the other side of the equation is the 1GHz processor speed of the One V. It comes in with the same 4GB storage space as the Xperia S and 512MB worth of RAM. But the good news is that you can add more memory on this handset via its microSD card slot. You can add as much as 32GB worth of storage space on this handset. When it comes to processing prowess, the Xperia U is the winner with its dual-core processor. However, when it comes to memory the One X is the winner.
Moving on, let us now tackle their operating systems. To start off the Xperia U ships with the older Android OS the Android Gingerbread. But there is an expect upgrade to the latest Android Iteration the Ice Cream Sandwich on this handset soon. On the other hand, the One V ships with the latest Android Iteration (Ice Cream Sandwich). Now, when it comes to OS the One V is the winner because of its pre-installed Ice Cream Sandwich OS.
Let's now move on to the cameras. The Xperia S comes in with a 5MP shutter with a resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels and it can shoot videos at 720 pixels at 30 frames per second. It comes in with a VGA front-facing camera as well. The camera of the One S is the same as the Xperia S. It can shoot videos at 720 pixels and at 30 frames per second too. The only difference is that this handset does not have a front-facing camera. It is quite clear who the winner is, in this category.
Last but not the least, the estimated price for the Xperia S is around £200 while the One X is around £208. As you can see the price difference is not big at all. They are both affordable and truly budget-friendly. Now the choice is yours, whether you want to have the Sony Xperia U or the HTC One V.
