The HTC One X is one of the very best mobile smartphones to launch this year. When we took a look at this device we found it really hard to fault the phone but there was one area that disappointed us slightly and that was the battery life offered by the model. HTC are not alone here, nearly every smartphone that we have looked at over the last two years lasted around a day from a full battery charge. We have spent some more time with the HTC One X and found some simple tips to help prolong the battery life of the device.
The HTC One X features a Nvidia Tegra 3 processor chip which has been optimised to deliver better power management and therefore a longer battery life. The problem with this however is that this has been counter acted by the inclusion of an incredible 4.7 inch display which shows a very bright image but places more strain on the battery. The quad core processor also enables the handset to take advantage of new games titles that are designed to use all four cores that the processor has to offer. So despite the improved power management new features place more demands on the battery and we seem to be no further forward. There are some ways of consumers considerably increasing the performance times that can be expected from battery without drastically altering the way in which they use the device.

The HTC One X features an auto brightness setting for the screen and this setting is activated when you set up the phone for the first time. The default setting for this is set to maximum so by reducing the level in the settings menu users will immediately see better battery performance. Another feature of the phone which places strain on the battery is the auto sync setting for e mails. This enables users to be automatically notified of incoming mail. In order to do this the phone needs to maintain a continuous data connection which will also help your battery life reduce rapidly. By turning this setting off you can help to improve battery life but many user may be reluctant to do this as they want to know when the receive a new e mail. A quick way around this is to use the auto sync widget on the home screen. This will update your inbox whenever you press it so you do not miss out on important mail and messages. In addition to these tips a new update is being rolled out by HTC that promises to improve power management of the device and therefore deliver longer life expectancy from the battery.
The HTC One X is a superb mobile phone that really does excel in most areas. By making one or two adjustments to the phones settings you can help the battery to last longer so that you can take full advantage of the great features that this model has to offer.

There were so many devices showcased during the Mobile World Congress 2012 held in Barcelona Spain. Of all the noise makers present on the said event, there were two names that caught the attention of many attendees. They are handsets made by the Taiwanese tech-giant HTC and Chinese tech-giant Huawei. They are the HTC One X (the HTC One flagship) and the Huawei Ascend D Quad XL (fastest Huawei handset to date).
Do you want to know why people are drawn to these two up and coming powerful smartphones? Do you also want to know why they are considered as a big threat to the famous handsets of today? Well, if you have answered a big YES to both of my questions then it is your lucky day. In this article, I will talk about the amazing and juicy details of these two new powerful handsets. Read on!
Let's start with their processing prowess. The HTC One X packs a powerful Nvidia Tegra 3 Quad-Core processor which clocks at 1.5GHz. The Huawei Ascend D Quad XL on the other packs a Huawei made chipset called K3V2 Quad-Core processor that also clocks at the same speed rate as the One X (at 1.5GHz). The only difference is that the One X uses a proven and well-known chipset maker the Nvidia. But on the other hand, Huawei is known for their hardware production.

HTC One X VsHuawei Ascend D Quad XL |
Let us now move on to their displays. The One X ships with a 4.7" SuperIPS LCD2 capacitive touch screen with 16 Million colors. It comes in with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and a pixel density of 312ppi. The phone's screen is also protected with the tough Corning Gorilla Glass. The Ascend D Quad XL on the other handset ships with a 4.5" IPS+ LCD capacitive touch screen with 16 Million colors. It comes in with a screen resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and a pixel density of 326ppi. If you compare the two handsets, you will notice that the HTC One X sports a bigger screen. It beats the Ascend D Quad XL at a mere.2" only. But then again, the pixel density of the Ascend D Quad XL is bigger than the One X.
Before this article ends, let me tell you about their cameras. We all love our mobile phones for their cameras. The good thing is, both of these handsets are sporting an 8MP shutter with the same resolution of 3264 x 2448 pixels. They also have the same 1.3MP front-facing cameras with 720 pixels. Video recordings on these handsets are at 1080 pixels and at 30 frames per second (fps). They also ship with the same Android Iteration the Ice Cream Sandwich or Android 4.0.
As you can see, the HTC One X and the Huawei Ascend D Quad XL are basically the same with only different outer appearance and minimal differences (specs wise). All I know is that both of these handsets are worth waiting for and both are worth our every single (hard-earned) penny.

Why choose the Huawei Ascend D Quad, when there are so many more impressive smartphones from more established manufacturers? Although it is a relatively unknown brand in the UK, the Huawei Ascend D Quad has the makings of a great smartphone. In this article I will look at why it makes a great choice for those not won over by the latest offerings from the likes of Samsung and HTC.
At this year's MWC event in Barcelona, Huawei wowed the crowds with its latest entry into the high end smartphone market, and it looks like it could make the brand very popular in the UK.
The Huawei Ascend D Quad has all the features found on many of the latest flagship smartphones, sharing traits found in the likes of the HTC One X which is arguably the most advanced smartphone currently available. For starters, it has a very impressive screen. At 4.5 inches, it is sizable enough to ensure a great multimedia experience, which is further enhanced by the brightness and colour rendering provided by the IPS+ LCD capacitive touchscreen panel. The resolution of 720x 1280 results in pixel density of 326ppi which is just 4 short of the famous retina display found on the iPhone 4S. This is made all the more impressive considering the screen is a full inch bigger than that of the flagship Apple device.
![]() |
Huawei Ascend D Quad |
As a camera phone, the Huawei Ascend D Quad is every bit as impressive as that on handsets like the Samsung Galaxy S2 for example. At 8 megapixels, it can capture impressive images, and comes with all the usual features like autofocus, LED flash and geo-tagging. The camera can also capture video footage, with the maximum resolution of 1080p allowing you to capture full HD videos, which can then be streamed wirelessly via DLNA to compatible devices like TVs and computers.
Although you may not have heard of the Huawei brand before, you will be left in no doubt about the quality of its software. The latest version of Google's Android platform (v4.0 aka Ice Cream Sandwich) is the operating system of choice, and this has the default Android interface rather than a manufacturer specific UI such as HTC Sense or Samsung TouchWiz. This means that apps can be downloaded from Google Play (previously known as Android Market), with apps which rival the AppStore in terms of quality and quantity.
A quad-core processor with a clock speed of 1.2 GHz puts the Huawei Ascend D Quad at the very top of the premium smartphone market in terms of its processing power, joining the ranks of very few other handsets to boast this technology including the HTC One X and LG Optimus 4X.
The handset also has some of the fastest internet browsing speeds on a mobile device, expandable storage in the form of a microSD slot (a feature which the HTC One X lacks), and many more impressive features besides.
As you can see, although Huawei is a relatively unknown brand, its latest addition to the smartphone market ticks all the boxes; on paper its hardware is up there with the best, and its software is renowned for its innovative features and is shared with some of the most popular smartphones in the world.
It is very hard to find anything bad to say about this phone. If you are looking for a new smartphone but do not want to follow the crowd, the Huawei Ascend D Quad is worthy of a place on your shortlist.

The new HTC One X is a superb mobile handset that comes with a number as excellent features installed that enable users to perform a variety of different tasks. By downloading applications there are also a number of additional roles that the handset can perform. We have a look at how this phone can help you meet new people with a range of excellent dating software that is available.
If you have a little bit of spare time to set up your account then OKCupid is one of the very best dating applications available for the HTC One X. When you download the software you need to spend around thirty minutes answering several questions that help the software establish your personality and interests. OKCupid then finds you potential matches based on the answers that you have given. Every profile that is matched with you has two scores listed besides the questions that you spent time answering earlier. The first score indicates how compatible the person is with you for romance while the second score does the same for friendship. When you browse through your matches you can view photographs and read information about that person and if somebody takes your fancy then you have the option to either send them a message or add them to your favourites. By adding the person to your favourites list the person is informed of your interest without you actually sending them a message. OKCupid offers a neat interface that is easy to navigate and boasts a large number of users that you can interact with.

HTC One X |
An alternative application to help you meet new people with your HTC One X handset is Plenty Of Fish. Unlike OKCupid users will need to set up their account on a web browser rather than by using the application. When setting up your account there are more questions than can be found on alternative software but this does help the application give you more accurate results. On the main screen of the application there are several icons that enable you to navigate through the software. Perhaps the most frequently used icon will be the heart which is where your matches can be viewed. When you click on this you are presented with all of the people who Plenty Of Fish believe to be suited to you. If you find one of these is of interest then you can send a message and take things from there. One thing we did notice when using this application is that the users tended to be a little more suggestive than they were on OKCupid so this may not be the application for you if you are looking to build friendships over a period of time.
The HTC One X has access to some excellent applications that can help you meet new people for friendship or romance. OKCupid is a great application that is very easy to use while Plenty Of Fish may be a better option if you are looking for fun rather than a meaningful relationship.

The HTC One trilogy is composed of the HTC One X, HTC One S, and the HTC One V. The HTC One V is the final member of the HTC One's trilogy. This is dubbed as the budget phone of the trilogy. It comes in with a curved chin design and unibody construction. It comes in with a fairly standard 3.7" display. If you are someone who doesn't want a bigger handset, say a 4" or bigger sized handset then this is for you.
If you base the phone's tag price to its design and built, you will agree with me when I say that it is a big misnomer. The phone's aluminum body alone will give you that premium feeling that you are used to seeing on high-end smartphones of today. This is also something that is quite comfortable to hold, all thanks to the phone's amazing curved chin design and curve on its back edges. The One V comes in with a matte black finish and it comes in with some character.
Going back to the phone's curved chin design, it is easy for me to conclude that this is the phone's most striking feature. If you are a big HTC fan, then I am sure that you know that this is HTC's trademark.
The phone's 3.7" capacitive touch screen display is protected by the tough Gorilla glass. You will notice how the glass screen protrudes from the phone's body by a mere.5mm. The phone's glass top is cut away in order for it to reveal a row of drilled holes intended for the phone's earpiece. If you look below the phone's earpiece, you will see the HTC logo (in silver). At the phone's bottom, you will see three capacitive buttons that will help you in navigating around the phone. If you are in a dark place, these capacitive buttons will light up.
![]() |
HTC One V |
If you look at the phone's right top edge, you will find the power/wake button. On the left part, you will find the 3.5mm headphone jack. The phone's volume rocker is on the right hand side. On the bottom left, you will find the Micro USB port for charging and connecting this handset to your computer.
This handset ships with a 5MP camera with a resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels. It comes in with LED flash and auto-focus too. You will be able to record videos at 720p on this handset. Last but not the least, this handset ships with the latest Android Iteration the Ice Cream Sandwich.
As you can see, this phone is a great catch. It comes with the latest Android OS and pretty cool features that you won't find in other so-called budget phones out there. Fall in love with the final member of the HTC One trilogy, fall in love with the budget-friendly HTC One V.

Just two years ago one of the most important elements of mobile smartphones was the storage capacity that they offered. As screen size and processing power continued to grow the handsets became ideal for playing back a wealth of multi media content including audio and video files. The down side to these file is that they occupied a large amount of the phones storage capacity and as a result phones were introduced offering massive amounts of capacity. Recently new cloud storage services have become popular which have reduced the need for large internal capacity on many models. Internet giants Google are now set to launch their own service for devices like the HTC One X.
![]() |
HTC One X |
Cloud storage services basically involve the users data being stored at a remote location known as the cloud. Services such as this offer numerous advantages over internal storage. The fact that the files are located centrally means that they can be accessed from other devices. This means that users can view their photographs and other data from their laptop computer or home PC. The other main advantage of this type of system is that if the mobile phone is lost or stolen important data remains safe. This data can then be easily transferred to a new device. Cloud storage has increased in popularity over the last few months with several companies offering consumers varying amounts of storage. Users of the HTC One X can already use the Dropbox service thanks to a deal between the company and HTC. Users are given 25GB of free storage for two years. Apple have also recently launched their popular iCloud service for users running an iOS device. The new Google Drive facility may prove to be the most popular of all. Google design the Android operating system which is the OS that is used by most smartphones and therefore integration of this new service is likely to be superb on these phones.
The HTC One X does offer users 16GB of internal storage but user can extend on this with the help of Google Drive. Although there has been no official confirmation about exactly what the new system will offer it is expected that users will be allocated a designated amount of free storage capacity. This is likely to be somewhere around the 5GB level but user can opt to increase their capacity by paying an annual subscription. It is expected that Google will allocate additional storage in steps of 100GB. No prices have been announced but Google will be keen to compete with other similar platforms so expect them to be very attractive. Another advantage of Google Drive over other services is that it will easily integrate with a number of other Google services. Data from Google Docs will be able to be remotely stored and PDF files will also be accommodated.
Users of the HTC One X have the choice of numerous cloud storage service but the introduction of Google Drive may ultimately prove to be the best available thanks to Google's years of experience in providing consumers with excellent software for both smartphones and computers.

The HTC One S comes pre-installed with a number of navigation applications which work seamlessly with the handset's GPS functionality. In this article I will look in more detail at some of these and the benefits they provide.
HTC Locations The HTC Locations app is provided as standard on the HTC One S, and works in a similar way to the popular Google Maps application which is also provided as standard on all Android and iOS devices. HTC Locations has a number of differences though. One of the most attractive features of the app is that you can download a map for a number of different countries, which is ideal for when you are planning on going travelling. The map will be stored on the phone itself, so you do not need to stream the map over a cellular network connection which as you may know, can quickly rack up substantial charges when outside your home country. This way, you can easily find your way around your new surroundings without worrying about the cost. All that's required is to ensure that you have downloaded the relevant map for the location, and that you have GPS turned on when you are using the Locations app. To do this on your HTC One S, simply open the settings menu and tap the Locations option. From here you can then toggle the 'Enable GPPS Satellites' option on and off.

HTC One S |
HTC Navigation Also included as a standard app o the HTC One S, the HTC Navigation app provides a number of similarities to the Locations app, but has the added bonus of a turn by turn navigation service. The HTC One S therefore has the ability to replace a SatNav unit, which can be quite a money saver. In fact, the Navigation app even says the names of roads, which is a feature which many standalone SatNav units lack. This feature does require a yearly subscription, however, there is a 30 day free trial the first time you use the service.
The HTC One S is the perfect phone to take advantage of these apps. The high resolution screen means that the maps look fantastic, and the sound quality is enhanced by the Beats Audio system. The phone also of course has GPS connectivity included, and as mentioned this removes the need to be connected to a data service like 3G or your network provider's coverage.
If you are planning on going travelling, the HTC Locations app is perfect. If you regularly drive to places you are unfamiliar with, the HTC Navigation service can also help. The HTC One S makes the most of these app, making it perfect for navigation tasks, and of course also offers plenty of other features which add to its appeal.

In this article I will look at the screen technology of the impressive HTC Sensation XE. This handset is one of the upgraded versions of the popular Sensation, sporting an upgraded processor, Beats Audio and a number of aesthetic enhancements.
The screen on the HTC Sensation XE sports a qHD resolution of 540x 960. This resolution falls just 100 pixels short of the well known 'retina' display found on the Apple iPhone 4S, iPhone 4 and even the latest iPad. The iPhone retina display resolution is 640x 960, so as you can see, the Sensation XE comes close. The retina display gets its name because when the device is held a certain distance away from the user's face, it is impossible to distinguish between individual pixels. While this is not necessarily the case on the HTC Sensation XE, it is certainly quite a task, so the display quality of on screen imagery is excellent. This means the HTC Sensation XE lends itself to a variety of multimedia tasks, ranging from watching high resolution videos; including 1080p video captured using the device's 8 megapixel camera. Photo slideshows, graphic rich websites, downloaded Android games and the HTC Sense UI interface in general all benefit from the enhanced display quality of the screen.
![]() |
HTC Sensation XE |
The screen measures the same 4.3 inches as that of the original Sensation, as well as a few other Android smartphones such as the popular Samsung Galaxy S2.
Aside from the resolution of the screen, the actual panel type also contributes massively to the display quality. The HTC Sensation XE has an S-LCD capacitive screen, which is well known for its brightness and colour rendering. Another benefit of this is, along with its powerful 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, is that it is very responsive to touch, providing an intuitive way to navigate the HTC Sense user interface.
As you can see, the screen on the HTC Sensation XE is very good; in fact it is one of the best out there. Its main competition comes from the likes of the iPhone 4S, and some newer HTC smartphones like its new flagship, the HTC One X. This has HTC's most advanced touchscreen to date, along with a wealth of other innovative features.
The handset also has an excellent spec list in areas other than its screen. An 8 megapixel camera with flash and 1080p video capture, Beats Audio for the best sound experience available on a mobile phone, Android Gingerbread (with update to 'Ice Cream Sandwich) and of course thousands of downloadable apps from Google Play makes it one of the finest Android handsets out there.
If you are looking for a new Android smartphone with appeal from all areas of its spec list, the HTC Sensation XE comes highly recommended.

The HTC One S is one of the first batches of handsets that originally ships with the latest Android Iteration the Ice Cream Sandwich. It may not be as powerful as its bigger sibling the HTC One X, but it is packed with features that is capable of beating current Android rivals in the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the LG Optimus 2X. In this article, we will talk about the capabilities of this smartphone and if it can really surpass its top-selling Android rivals. Read on!
The Build - If you look at this handset, you will notice slight resemblance to the famous HTC Sensation. But on the other hand, this handset is a bit on the sexier side and it is the sexiest HTC handset to date. This handset boasts that all black finish with a bit of colored metal ring found around the phone's camera lens. Like most HTC handsets, this boasts an aluminum body with micro arc oxidation finish. This is also said to be five times tougher than the average aluminum of today. With this, you can say goodbye to buying a protective casing for this handset. It is safe and secured on its own.
![]() |
HTC One S |
Its Features - This handset is one of the first phones made for the Ice Cream Sandwich and the new HTC Sense 4 User Interface. If you are familiar with an Android phone, then you won't have any problem in operating this handset. You will find 7 customizable home screens on this handset. All of them can be scrolled through and you can populate your phone with widgets and apps as well. If scrolling is not for you, then you can pinch your way through this handset. The phone packs decent features in the likes of 8MP shutter with 1080p video capture capability. You will also get 16GB worth of memory on this handset. But as expected, you won't be able to expand the phone's memory. You will also get the same Beats Audio technology found on other HTC handsets.
The Mighty Screen - This handset packs a 4.3" Super AMOLED capacitive touch screen. You will find the phone's color reproduction and contrast improved like never before. Saturated reds and greens leaps right out of the phone to you, while blacks are inky and deep as well. Its sharp resolution 540 x 960pixels comes packed with a pixel density of 256ppi. Everything is fairly shard on this phone.
Powerful Performance - This may not be a Quad-Core handset like its sibling (One X), but this is capable of giving you enough power and speed that you will ever need. It boasts a dual-core processor with dedicated graphics processing prowess and a 1GB worth of RAM. With this, you can easily skip between apps without the phone slowing down or lagging on you. In short, apps will run smoothly at all times. The phone's camera functions quite impressive. It delivers quality 8MP stills and it comes with an option to snap away at a relatively high speed. You do not have to wait on your phone that long, it is now capable of shooting and capturing images in high speed.
With its powerful processor and specs, the impressive HTC One S can definitely give its Android rivals a run for their money.

When the iPhone 4S was launched in October 2011 it was the most advanced mobile handset available and as a result scores of consumers were eager to get theirs hands on one of the devices. As time passes however technology moves on and now the specification of the 4S is more comparable with a high quality mid range device rather than one of the new premium handsets that are available. As a result of this we have seen the price of the iPhone also decrease slightly over this period. We see how the model compares with the new HTC One S, one of the leading new mid range phones, for screen technology and design.
![]() |
HTC One S |
The iPhone 4S boasts a very unique design which is part of the reason why it has been so popular with consumers. The model perfectly combines two glass panels with a slim steel strip which is sandwiched in between them. When you actually handle the phone it feels very premium and part of the reason for this is that it weighs 140 grammes which is slightly heavier than many of the new models that are being released. The glass design of the phone is actually very durable which is somewhat surprising and this is thanks to Apple using Gorilla Glass in the design which is much tougher than traditional panels. The chassis design was first used on the iPhone 4 in 2010 and despite its age it still compares favourably with many new models that are being launched. The HTC One S is also a very stylish phone and one could argue that it is the best looking device that HTC have ever released. The model uses a metallic chassis which has undergone an oxidising treatment during its manufacture which gives it an impressive finish and also helps to make it more durable. The model is slightly larger than the Apple device but it does feature a larger screen so this is to be expected. The HTC handset offers a much more curved design and the appearance of the phone could almost be described as pebble like. Both of these handsets boast excellent design and while the iPhone 4S may offer the more unusual materials one could argue that the gentle curves of the One S are more aesthetically pleasing.
![]() |
iPhone 4S |
At its time of release the iPhone 4S had the highest quality screen available and it still remains one of the best examples of display technology on the market. The Retina display used on this phone uses LED backlit technology to produce an excellent resolution of 960 x 640 pixels. This enables the handset to display a pixel density of 326PPI. This is actually a level that exceeds what the human eye can detect and this is why the screen has been affectionately named the Retina Display. The one disadvantage with this display is that it is one of the smallest of any current smartphone at just 3.5 inches. The HTC One S uses a larger 4.3 inch Super AMOLED screen. Technically this screen is superior to the LED panel on the Apple device as it can produce more vivid colours and more natural depth. The resolution however is lower at 960 x 540 and combined with the larger display means that pixel density on this model drops to just 256 pixels per inch. Although the technology found on the One S is very impressive the screen cannot deliver the image clarity of the 4S thanks to the superb pixel density offered by the Apple phone.
Despite being one of the older phones on the market the iPhone 4S still manages to hold its own against many of the newer handsets that are being released. When compared to the HTC One X it was hard to fault either phone in terms of design but when we looked at screen performance the Apple device still offered a superior picture.

Back in 2010, LG's 2X was the first smartphone to come packed with a 1 GHz dual-core processor under the hood. Soon after, other manufacturers started to launch their own handsets sporting these powerful processors. In 2011, the most popular of these handsets was the Samsung Galaxy S2. Now, LG has officially launched another super phone. This is the LG Optimus 4X HD. This phone comes with superior hardware and software only a handful of devices can compete with.
LG's new super phone comes with one of the largest touch screens in the market. It sports a 4.7 inch HD-IPS LCD capacitive touch screen sporting a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. Only a few smartphones in the market sport similar screen sizes. One is the Windows Phone-powered HTC Titan. Another is the HTC One X.
When it comes to storage, the phone sports 16 GB of internal memory. This will allow you to store things like videos, pictures, apps, and other files. Of course, there's always a chance that the 16 GB of storage will not be enough for your files and multi-media. If this is what you're worried about, there's no need to worry. The smartphone supports as much as 32 GB from a micro-SD card.

LG Optimus Vs HTC One X |
With all the storage options the phone has to offer, you are sure to download a lot of apps, capture memories, and upload them to your favorite social network using the LG Optimus 4X HD. Thankfully, the phone has the right tools for the job. It allows users to download at speeds of up to 21 mbps and upload at speeds of up to 5.76 mbps. It also comes with a superior 8 megapixel rear-facing camera that can record videos in 1080p (Full HD) and a secondary 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera that can record videos in 720p (HD).
Now comes the fun part. The LG Optimus 4X HD comes packed with the most powerful CPU available in the market. It comes packed with a 1.5 GHz Tegra 3 quad-core processor by NVIDIA under the hood. For added performance, the phone sports 1 GB of RAM. Currently, the only phone that sports the same processor is the HTC One X. With this superior CPU, you will get to enjoy more from intense graphics while gaming. It is also more ideal when it comes to seamless multi-tasking.
Like the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, LG's super phone comes pre-installed with the latest version of Android. It runs Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) right out of the box. This will allow you to enjoy more from Android's new features such as Face Unlock. It will also allow you to enjoy more from apps from Google Play.
If you're looking for a smartphone that offers superior hardware and software, the LG Optimus 4X HD is the phone for you.

A number of mobile handsets running on the Android 4.0 operating system are now becoming available. One of the most impressive devices we have encountered is the HTC One X, a premium model that combines a very high quality screen with some truly awesome processing power. The Android web browser that comes installed on the phone is very good but we want to take a look at some alternative new browsers that are available for this model and other Android 4.0 phones.

One of the very best browsers available for the HTC One X is Dolphin HD 8.0. This new version of the popular service offers an improved interface and also includes some excellent new features such as Sonar voice recognition. There are two main ways you can input data into this enhanced interface. The Sonar voice recognition enables user to perform a number of key functions with their voice. Unlike other models where voice commands are limited to searching for material Sonar allows users to bookmark favourite sites, navigate the browser and share material on social networking services. Obviously voice control is not for everyone and the browser does also include improved gesture controls if you prefer to use you phone in a more traditional manner. These improved controls allow consumers to set up specific actions for their favourite sites which can then be accessed with the simple flick of a finger. Tabbed browsing is fully supported and a number of additional pieces of software can be added to the browser to help user perform certain tasks. These additional items include RSS readers, Twitter and a PDF reader. The Dolphin HD 8.0 browser is available for free from Google Play.
Another excellent alternative browser for the HTC One X is Google Chrome. This platform has proved a major success for home computers and laptops and now the software makes its way to Android devices that run on version 4.0 of the operating system. Google Chrome does lack some of the features that are offered on Dolphin HD such as voice control but for user looking for a more traditional service this may be their best option. Multiple tabs can be opened at the same time and Chrome also offers excellent page compression which enhances the browsing speeds that users can experience. Any web page that takes your fancy can be stored and viewed at a later time, even if you do not have an internet connection available. Google Chrome also features some more complex but very useful features such as allowing web pages to be shared between your mobile device and your desktop PC. Like Dolphin this software is also available for free from Google Play.
Google Chrome and Dolphin HD 8.0 are both excellent browsers for the HTC One X. Dolphin certainly offers more in the way of innovative features but Chrome looks and performs superbly which is thanks to Google enjoying so many years as a leading internet search provider.

You can enjoy full length movies on your HTC One X but either renting them or downloading them from the HTC Watch app. This app comes pre-installed on the phone and allows you to browse a large catalogue of titles, which you can then watch on the large, high resolution screen.

To use the app, select it from the all apps menu which is found at the bottom of the screen as part of the new Android 'Ice Cream Sandwich' update. There are four shortcuts at the bottom of the apps interface. The first is the 'Downloaded' section where you can view all the movies which you have already downloaded and are ready to watch. The second option is 'All Videos' where you can again view downloaded movies along with those captured using the 8 megapixel camera. The third option at the bottom of the interface is 'Progress' where you can view the progress of movies which are currently downloading. Finally, there is the 'Video Store' option, which is where you browse through the available titles. To find what you are looking for it could not be simpler. There are several categories through which you can browse titles. There are recommended and featured videos, where you can view popular titles, along with other categories such as top 10 lists, genres and TV shows etc. This makes it easy to find what you are looking for.
When you have found a title you wish to download, you have the option to buy it, whereby you will own a copy of the video which can be permanently stored on your phone or transferred to a computer or other device. You also have the option to rent titles. This is a cheaper option, but the movie will only be stored on your device for a limited time or until you have finished watching it. There is a category called '£0.49 Cheap Laughs' which is a list of comedy titles including such blockbusters as 'The Hangover Part 2' which can be rented for just 49 pence.
There are many film rental and streaming services available these days, so where does the HTC Watch app fit in? I think it is ideal for when you are travelling. If you have a long flight or train journey, simply download the titles you want to watch by either buying or renting them, and they will then be stored on your phone. You can then watch them on your journey using a headset to enjoy quality sound provided by integrated Beats Audio, an impressive attribute of the HTC One X, and immerse yourself in the 4.7 inch HD screen. This is just one example of when this app may be handy, as you have the movie stored ready to go on the phone, with no need for streaming which can incur expensive data charges if you do not have Wi-Fi access.
The HTC One X is the perfect device to take advantage of such services as the HTC Watch app, thanks to its quality screen and great sound quality provided by Beats. Now you can add full length movies to the long list of functions which your smartphone is capable of performing.
