Back in June of 2010, Apple came out with their 4th generation iPhone. Last year (December of 2011), BlackBerry released their BlackBerry Bold 9790. Now, let me tell you about two of the best smartphones that ever hit the market. In this article, we will talk about and compare the iPhone 4 and the BlackBerry Bold 9790. These handsets may be released one year apart (2010 and 2011) from each other, but they have been the best handsets that ever hit the market during their time. Please allow me to compare them for you. Read on!
I will start with their display screens. To start off the comparison note, let's talk about Apple's phone followed by BlackBerry's handset. Apple packed its handset with 3.5" LED-backlit IPS touch screen and it comes in with a screen resolution of 640 x 960 pixels (pixel density of 330 ppi). BlackBerry on the other hand packed its phone with 2.45" TFT capacitive touch screen and it comes with a resolution of 480 x 360 pixels (pixel density of 245 ppi). When it comes to having a bigger screen and higher screen resolution, I can easily give a whole good point to Apple for packing its handset with a 3.5" screen.
Another feature we should discuss and compare is their cameras. Apple packed its phone with 5MP shutter with 2592 x 1944 pixels. It can also record videos at 720 pixels at 30 frames per second. There is also a VGA front-facing camera on this with 480 pixels resolution and can shoot at 30 frames per second. BlackBerry on the other hand packed its handset with the same 5MP shutter with the same resolution (2592 x 1944 pixels). But it packs a VGA video recording capability only. There is also no front-facing shutter on this handset. Another good point and a half goes to Apple for packing a front-facing shutter and being able to record videos at 720 pixels.
Let's now talk about processors and memory capacity. Apple decided to ship its handset with 1GHz Cortex - A8 processor chip. You can also choose from their 8, 16, or 32GB worth of memory storage handsets with 512MB RAM. BlackBerry on the other hand came up with 8GB worth of memory storage phones and backed it up with 768MB RAM. If the 8GB memory capacity is quite small for you, then you can easily add more memory via the phone's microSD card slot. Yes, you can basically add as much as 32GB more worth of memory. When it comes to owning more memory storage or memory capacity, I give BlackBerry a whole good point for packing its handset with a memory card slot for more storage option.
From the main features mentioned above, Apple received two and a half good points and BlackBerry received only one. The answer is clear as to who wins in this comparison note. But whether you are an iPhone 4 fan or BlackBerry Bold 9790 fan, you always have the upper hand in choosing what is best for you.
This is my brief comparison note on the iPhone 4 and BlackBerry Bold 9790.

When the original Nova game was launched for the iPhone the impressive title was compared to console based shooting games such as Halo. When the second installment of the Nova series was launched it was obvious that the developers had made an effort to help the game stand out from its rivals by adding more spectacular scenery and faster action. The new NOVA 3 game has been released for the iPhone 4S and for the first time the title puts some distance between itself and similar games by offering one of the best mobile gaming experiences currently available.
The biggest difference that we have noticed between Nova 3 for the iPhone 4S and previous versions is that everything seems bigger. There is a bigger storyline and the graphics are bigger and bolder than ever. Users can enjoy a bigger selection of weapons and the number of enemy's is bigger than ever before. One of the most impressive aspects of this new game is the locations where the action is staged. There are a variety of different locations ranging from disused shopping precincts to underground car parks. A really satisfying aspect of the game is how the scenery is actually damaged and destroyed by your gun fire rather than just the enemy that you are supposed to target. This helps to make the whole experience of playing this game much more enjoyable. Users are not limited to walking around locations either, there are a number of vehicles that can be used and shooting your weapon from one of these is actually great fun.
Nova 3 for the iPhone 4S is a much faster game than any of the previous installments. We are not only talking about the loading speeds but also the gameplay as well. Characters react much quicker to instructions and when you are running around the various level the game delivers an almost console like experience. In terms of graphics it is very difficult to fault the game, there is an immense amount of detail within the title and the dynamic lighting is superb. Users can witness shadows being cast and even heat distortion from the barrel of the gun once some shots have been fired. In between levels there is a military shop which can visited to upgrade your characters equipment. A range of different options are available from explosive packs to enhanced performance characteristics. To purchase these upgrades you need to have accumulated enough in game credit. This is done by progressing through the game and it really does give you an incentive to do well. Alternatively you can choose to purchase extra credit if you find yourself in desperate need of the latest weaponry.
Nova 3 is one the most impressive games we have ever seen on the iPhone 4S. The game delivers superb graphics which are comparable to a games console and the gameplay is superb. For anybody looking for a quality shooting game Nova 3 should be regarded as an essential download.

What's in a name? A lot, apparently; and it could both be for better and worse, depending on how you choose to look at it.
See, I've been trying to sell my iPhone 3GS to have a little extra cash when I finally purchase the new iPhone 4S. Ever since its release, I've been salivating with glee at the thought of finally having the 4S in my hands.
A lot of my friends think I'm crazy, though. "Don't sell your old iPhone," they all said. "Wait until the iPhone 5 gets released next year. Don't be too impulsive."
Yeah, sure, okay. Not that that's bad advice or anything, but I have been holding on to my old iPhone for more than a couple of years now. I think now's as good a time as any to make another gadget purchase; especially one as innovative and exciting as the iPhone 4S.
A lot of people often mistake the iPhone 4S (as well as the iPhone 3GS, for that matter) as a mere nominal upgrade. I can't really blame them though. The smartphone's name is misleading, after all.
Think about it: Say you were on the market for a new car. You're looking for something practical, maybe even bordering on a family-type model; but you still want it to be a bit brawny. The dealer then recommends you try out the Subayota Lancelica. You take it out for a test drive and check out its response times, smoothness, and whatnot. You decide that it's right for you, so you go back to the dealer and tell him so. "But wait," he says. "Would you also like to try out this other model? For just $500 more, you could be the proud owner of the Subayota Lancelica S!"
"S?" you think. "What the heck does that stand for? Swindle? Sham? Scam? Will buying the 'S' make me a Sucker?"
If you're not the type to judge the merits of the Lancelica S based on just the arguably unimpressive name, you'd find out that the "S" stood for "Supercharged." As in, the Lancelica S swaps the stock engine for a supercharged one; a steal at just an additional 500 bucks.
You see what I'm getting at.
The iPhone 4S is often belittled by the uninformed as a dispensable upgrade to the previous iPhone 4 model. If they'd bothered to get their facts right, they'd discover that the 4S is actually more than that. So much more.
It's got the A5 chip which gives it more processing power. It still has the admittedly awesome Retina Display, it has a very much improved iSight camera, and it is capable of running the new iOS 5 (and by extension the iCloud) at optimal levels. These are all very impressive upgrades and features; but if there's one thing that truly lets the iPhone 4S make its mark, it's that it is the first (and currently, only) gadget to have a program that you can talk to and instruct, and that talks back to you.
Yes, Siri is that big of a deal. Welcome to the future.
Now excuse me while I find out where to sell my iPhone 3GS for the most amount of cash...

We all have witnessed the power of the iPhone and have seen the promising power of the One Series. In this article, we will talk about the iPhone 4S released back in October 2011 and the HTC One V released last month (April 2012). I will give you brief comparison note on these two amazing handsets by powerful mobile giants Apple and HTC. I will start my comparison note with the iPhone 4S followed by the HTC One V. Read on!
Let's start with sizes and weight. The iPhone 4S's actual dimensions are 115.2 x 58.6 x 9.3 mm and it weighs in at 140 grams only. The HTC One V's actual dimensions are 120.3 x 59.7 x 9.2 mm and weighs in at 115 grams only. The iPhone 4S may be smaller but it weighs more than the HTC One V. This is because it is made out of glass and metal while the other one comes in a plastic casing.
Let us now move on to their displays. Apple packed its handset with 3.5" LED-backlit IPS TFT touch screen with a screen resolution of 640 x 960 pixels (330 ppi pixel density). It is also protected with Corning Gorilla Glass and boasts oleophobic coating. HTC packed its handset with 3.7" Capacitive touch screen with a screen resolution of 480 x 800 pixels (252 ppi pixel density). As mentioned earlier, Apple used Glass on this handset. This is the tough Corning Gorilla Glass for its screen protection. When it comes to owning a bigger screen and higher resolution, HTC bags the title.
Moving on, let us now talk about processors and memory capacity. Apple packed this handset with dual-core processor which clocks at a speed rate of 1GHz. You can get this handset in 16, 32, and 64GB storage with 512MB worth of RAM. HTC packed its handset with single-core and clocks at speed rate of 1GHz. It packed its handset with 4GB worth of memory and 512MB worth of RAM. If you want more, then you can easily add as much as 32GB worth of memory on this via the phone's microSD card slot. When it comes to owning a powerful processor, Apple wins by packing its handset with a dual-core processor. When it comes to memory options Apple may not have a microSD card slot but you can get it at 64GB. On the other hand, HTC may have the microSD card slot and you can get as much as 32GB but it comes pre-installed with 4GB worth of memory storage only. A good point goes to Apple for coming out with 64GB handset.
It is quite obvious as to who wins in this comparison note. But the decision is yours as to whether you want to own an iPhone 4S or HTC One V handset.

With so many new smartphones to choose from, with an equally comprehensive array of technology, choosing the right phone can be difficult at the best of times. In this article I will look at some of the popular phones available, and why they may suit different types of users.
The Samsung Galaxy S2 is one of the most popular Android smartphones of all time, with over 40 million sales to its name. There are several reasons for its popularity. The first is its screen, which is well known for its display quality, wide viewing angles and responsiveness due to its AMOLED capacitive panel. At 4.3 inches, the screen is also ideally sized for watching full screen movies, while remaining pocket friendly. In terms of processing power, it is a very capable device; with a 1.2 GHz dual-core chip which provides excellent performance from all aspects of the phone's hardware and software alike. The Samsung Galaxy S2 runs the popular Android OS. It ships with the Gingerbread version, but also supports an update to the Ice Cream Sandwich platform so in terms of its software it is as up to date as the likes of the Galaxy S3 and HTC One X. The Samsung TouchWiz UI runs over the top of this, and like HTC Sense it is well known for the ability to customise the homescreens and of course download apps from Google Play. The Samsung Galaxy S2 is a perfect all round smartphone. Rather than excel at one or two tasks, it is perfect for carrying out any job you throw at it. It is also a stylish device and remarkably slim, so it really does tick all the boxes.
Of course, I cannot write an article about choosing a new smartphone without discussing the iPhone 4S. As Apple's most popular product to date it is well known for its versatility. One of the strengths of the iPhone 4S is its multimedia capabilities, which are provided by Apple's multimedia ecosystem which includes integration with other Apple services like iTunes, AppStore and built in iPod functionality. These features alone would guarantee good sales, but it also offers a great 'retina' screen for superb display quality, dual-core processor and an 8 megapixel camera with 1080p video capture. Web browsing is also a well known strength of iPhones in general, with the Safari app providing a desktop like internet experience. The AppStore also increases the potential versatility of the handset, with apps covering every possible scenario. There are plenty of categories within the AppStore, whereby you can choose from over 500,000 apps which are all optimised for the iPhone 4S screen and processor etc.
The Samsung Galaxy S2 is arguably the best Android phone out there (except maybe for the new releases from Samsung and HTC) but certainly the most popular. As an iPhone alternative, it would be my top recommendation. The iPhone 4S though is simply the best phone Apple has ever released, especially in terms of its multimedia functionality.
It would be unfair to say that one of these phones is better than the other, as they are both very different devices with the fundamental difference being the operating systems which is generally what divides opinions. Both are great choices though, and you are sure to be pleased with whatever one you choose.

We have recently witnessed the launch of the new Samsung Galaxy S3 and it will not be long before we see the new iPhone 5 from Apple unveiled. These two handsets are the two heavyweights in the smartphone world and many people are keen to see what the new Apple device will offer to help it compete with the impressive new S3. Apple have revealed that there will be a change on there new iOS6 operating system that will help them distance themselves from other devices like the S3 that use Android software.
Since the iOS platform was introduced on the very first iPhone the operating system has always relied on the Google Maps service to provide users with location based services and navigational tools. Google are obviously the company who produce the popular Android software, the main rival to Apple's own operating system. In a bid to distance themselves from their competitors Apple are set to include a brand new maps service on the iOS6 operating system which will feature on the new iPhone 5. Although this change has not been officially confirmed it is likely to be revealed at the Apple developers conference which will be held in June. This new service will be developed by Apple but consumers are unlikely to notice much of a difference as the software will work in the same manner.
There are also likely to be numerous other changes to the iOS6 platform for the new iPhone 5. One major change will be to the Siri voice recognition system that was launched with the iPhone 4S. It is rumoured that the new platform will feature Siri API which will enable application developers to produce new apps for the phone that can make use of the Siri software. At the moment Siri only works with applications that are native to the handset but on the iPhone 5 the voice recognition service will potentially be able to interact with thousands of additional applications. This means that users could control games and trade stocks with their voice and also use Siri to control things such as automated home lighting systems. This change will certainly enhance the appeal of Siri which although is very impressive is still often underused. There are also rumours that Apple will use the June conference to launch Siri for the iPad tablet device. AT this moment in time the service is restricted to the iPhone 4S and the forthcoming iPhone 5.
It looks as though Apple will be changing more than the design of the new iPhone 5. In a bid to make their product stand out from the competition some big changes are set to happen to the iOS operating platform. A new maps services will be featured but many consumers will be more interested in the Siri updates, especially the possibility of it working with additional applications.

There is no question that the Samsung Galaxy S2 was the best mobile handset of 2011. This high powered smartphone beat all of the competition to be awarded numerous accolades and the phone was also a huge hit with consumers with over 30 million units being shifted to date. This year the manufacturers have had the opportunity to impress once again with the launch of the new Galaxy S3. This device however has failed to win the public over in the same way as its predecessor did. Does this leave the door open for the forthcoming iPhone 5 to be the best phone of 2012?
The first impressions of the new Samsung Galaxy S3 are a little disappointing. One of the major new features on this model is the new S-Voice facility which enables users to control the phone with their own voice. The problem with this feature is that Apple already launched their own Siri service on the iPhone 4S and this feature offers more in the way of functionality than the new Samsung software. The new iPhone 5 will also feature an improved version of the Siri software which should push Apple further ahead of Samsung in this department. When Apple introduced the iPhone 4S many consumers wished for a new design but the developers opted to use the same chassis as the iPhone 4 which was launched in 2010. The new Galaxy S3 does feature a new design but one that many people feel is inferior to its predecessor. The phone does not feel as well built as the S2 and it also offers more generic looks that puts it in line with numerous other phones. The iPhone 4 was one of the nicest looking phones ever released and the decision not to change the design was actually no bad thing. Apple pride themselves on their design and when the new handset is launched later this year it is sure to improve on the 4S with high quality metals likely to be used in its construction. This will see the Apple handset appeal to consumers much more than the new Galaxy S3.
One area where the new Samsung Galaxy S3 does impress is in the processing department thanks to the powerful new Exynos 4212 quad core chipset that it incorporates. We do however expect the new iPhone 5 to compare well against this model in this department. The Apple iOS is a very power efficient operating system and we saw with the iPhone 4S that the platform can outperform the majority of Android powered devices. The new model will definitely feature a larger screen along with 4G connectivity and therefore a boost in processing power may well be required. There is some talk that Apple will continue with their use of the A5 chipset although it looks more likely that the model will feature the new A6 architecture. This set up will boast quad cores and should ensure that the new Apple phone is one of the very best for operating speeds.
The launch of the new Samsung Galaxy S3 seems to have left a void in the smartphone market that needs to be filled. Many people expected the model to be the ultimate mobile smartphone but these expectations proved to be a little high. The phone is very good but it is comparable with other excellent devices like the HTC One X and the Sony Xperia S. If the new iPhone 5 includes many of the features that we expect it may well prove to me the model that everybody was hoping that the Galaxy S3 would be.

When Samsung revealed its new flagship, the Galaxy S3 a couple of weeks ago, many were impressed by its features and it seems to have lived up to its high expectations, given the success of its predecessor the Galaxy S2. One of the most talked about features is the S-Voice feature.
This is a voice activated personal assistant which is similar in nature to Siri, is the voice command system found on Apple's iPhone 4S. In this article I will compare the two, to see how they differ.
Siri
Many people are familiar with Siri, as it is one of the flagship features of the wildly popular iPhone 4S. It was the first mainstream voice command system on a smartphone and wowed many people when the handset was launched. The way in which Siri works is actually quite simple. It uses the most appropriate native iOS up to carry out the task. For example if you ask what the traffic is like in a certain location it will use by Google Maps app with its live traffic updates. Of course you will have to be connected to the Internet carry out such functions as the app uses live data from an outside source. The same goes for carrying out Internet searches and inputting URLs to go to a specific website. However, there are plenty of other functions which can be carried out without an Internet connection. For example you can dictate a new text message, create appointments in your calendar and write and send new emails. Also, you can use Siri to control your iTunes, simply by telling its own player a specific song title.
S-Voice
The Samsung Galaxy S3 offers S-Voice, which is a similar feature to Siri, of course, the main difference being that this is optimised for the Android platform rather than iOS. The differences between S-Voice and Siri are actually rather subtle. For example, with S-Voice you activate the feature by saying 'Hi Galaxy', rather than by opening the app manually as with Siri, making it a truly hands free feature. After all, this is the whole point of having such as feature in the first place. Also, you may find that S-Voice operates faster than Siri thanks to faster 3G and Wi-Fi connections, and a more powerful processor which allows the software to respond much faster.
Because Siri uses all native iOS apps to carry out tasks, the chances are that you will find it to be more accurate in its results when using online services. Also, it is worth bearing in mind that the Samsung Galaxy S3 was only released very recently, and the iPhone 4S has been available for around 8 months and the iPhone 5 is due to be released later this year and will probably see a new generation Siri features added. Choosing between the two comes down largely to your preference for either iOS or Android, as at the end of the day there is very little to choose between the two. Both are very impressive, and when used correctly have the potential to greatly enhance your smartphone user experience.

There were two major smartphone releases that consumers were looking forward to in 2012. We have recently seen one of them which is the impressive Samsung Galaxy S3 which was unveiled at the beginning of May. That leaves just the one major release which is the iPhone 5. This new phone will feature an updated version of the iOS operating system. One area that will benefit from this updated platform is the excellent iCloud storage service.
The iCloud feature was launched in 2011 and enables users to have their precious data automatically stored. All users of iOS devices are allocated a set amount of storage space which can store a variety of material from photographs to documents. The advantage of a system such as this is that it enables data to be shared between various devices. Users can now take a photograph with their iPhone 4S and view the image on their iPad when they return home. In addition to the excellent sharing facilities iCloud is also perfect for protecting valuable data. If a handset is lost or stolen material is still safe and can be easily transferred to a new device. This system has proved a big success and the new iPhone 5 will boast an even better version of iCloud. It is expected that the updated service will be unveiled at the WWDC 2012 event which is where the new iOS6 operating system will be officially unveiled. There are also rumours that Apple may take the opportunity to reveal the new handset at this event although it is likely that they will hold a separate launch for this eagerly anticipated model.
Apple are looking to make iCloud a much more social experience on the new iPhone 5. Users will have the ability to automatically share groups of photographs with friends and family and these people will also have the ability to comment on the images. This may prove to be a very wise move from Apple with photo sharing software such as Instagram already proving a massive success with consumers. Apple are keen to change the personal Camera Roll facility into a fully functioning photo and video sharing application. There are numerous rumours circulating about other features that will be incorporated on the new operating system. It is expected that the Maps service will be completely overhauled and there is also a strong possibility that we may be treated to a brand new user interface to accompany the new design that the iPhone 5 will offer.
The iPhone 5 is certainly going to be one of the major smartphone releases of this year and Apple are keen to improve the iOS software so it compliments this new model. The iCloud service looks like one area that will be affected more than most by this update and users will soon be able to easily share video and photo content with other users.

The Apple iPhone 4S continues to be as popular as ever despite ongoing and increasingly impressive competition from Android and Windows powered smartphones. One of the major attractions of Apple's flagship smartphone is the ability to download apps from the AppStore. News apps are a popular category and in this article I will look at the popular Yahoo! news app.
Yahoo! is one of the world's biggest websites, offering global as well as country specific news and weather as well as providing services like email and finance info. The iPhone 4S Yahoo! app provides all of these services and more providing a one stop shop for all the Yahoo! services.
The Yahoo! app has a simple to use interface, with icons for news, friends, mail and search functionality on the homescreen for easy access to your desired service. The news aspect of the app uses the built in GPS functionality of the iPhone 4S to provide news which is relevant to your country. You can also toggle between local and world news headlines. News headlines are similar to those that you will find on other new services like CNN or BBC news apps, and are generally ranked by importance and are updated quickly so they will appear as news happens.
There is also a weather service which like the news headlines, will show relevant weather data for your current location which can also be toggled to select weather information for other countries which can be handy if you are planning on travelling abroad.
The Yahoo! email service is also integrated, so you can access you Yahoo! email account from the app where you can read, write and send new emails. The app also stores your contacts for this email service so there is no need to download a standalone email app, although there is a dedicated Yahoo! email app available and the iOS email app also integrates with Yahoo! email accounts so you can choose whichever app you prefer for email tasks.
Yahoo! also offers plenty of articles which as you may have noticed on Facebook, can be linked to your Facebook account and it will show your friends which articles you have read, so they can also read them if they are interested.
The Yahoo! app is great for news but also has the added bonus of email functionality, social article sharing and weather information. This puts it ahead of the majority of rivals in terms of its versatility and the features it offers.
The iPhone 4S benefits from this and many more apps, arguably making it the most versatile smartphone available today. The iPhone 4S makes the Yahoo! news app easy to use with its simple touchscreen operation, and the embedded images and videos look great on the retina display. Apple iPhone 4S deals are available now from all major UK networks.
