The Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the Sony Xperia S are two of the very best mobile devices that make use of the excellent Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. One area where the Sony Xperia S does impress us more than its rival is with its excellent photography features. Sony have always provided excellent cameras on their devices and this model in no exception. The Xperia S can capture photographs at a resolution of 12 mega pixels. Thanks to the excellent BSI sensor that is also used the image quality is superb. A secondary camera is also present on the model which can capture 1.3 mega pixel photographs. Some useful features are also present to help users in capturing the highest possible quality. The Sony Xperia S and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus are both powerful phones that offer excellent operation speeds. The Sony model does offer more in the way of photographic quality thanks to an extremely high resolution and a superb BSI sensor.

If you're looking for a new phone, you must have come across the Blackberry Bold 9900. This is one of Research In Motion's high-end handsets. However, you may notice that the phone looks similar to just about every other handset in RIM's lineup. This being said, you may be wondering if it's just like most of the Canadian firm's smartphones. Will it be comfortable on the hands?
When it comes to the phone's design, it is larger than the 9700 by comparison. It also seems that RIM has chosen to go back to the design of the original 9000. The bottom line is that this handset looks similar to every RIM handset out there.

The Nokia Lumia 800 is a new smartphone that offers a host of great connectivity options that enable users to take advantage of a number of great internet features. One area of this phone which benefits from the excellent connectivity is social networking. The majority of phone users have at least one social networking account and Facebook is the service that most people will use regularly. A new update is due to be introduced to the Windows Facebook application that will help it to deliver more features and functionality.

Full geo tagging will be enabled which means that any material posted by the user can have a geographical location attached to it so friends can see where the material was posted from. In version 2.5 of the software users can choose to "like" comments that other users leave on their posts and pictures. The other big change that the update will deliver will be the ability to view and add active content to posts. This will mean that video and audio files can easily be accessed form the Lumia 800.

The HTC One trilogy is composed of the HTC One X, HTC One S, and the HTC One V. The HTC One V is the final member of the HTC One's trilogy. This is dubbed as the budget phone of the trilogy. It comes in with a curved chin design and unibody construction. It comes in with a fairly standard 3.7" display. If you are someone who doesn't want a bigger handset, say a 4" or bigger sized handset then this is for you.
If you base the phone's tag price to its design and built, you will agree with me when I say that it is a big misnomer. The phone's aluminum body alone will give you that premium feeling that you are used to seeing on high-end smartphones of today. This is also something that is quite comfortable to hold, all thanks to the phone's amazing curved chin design and curve on its back edges. The One V comes in with a matte black finish and it comes in with some character.
Going back to the phone's curved chin design, it is easy for me to conclude that this is the phone's most striking feature. If you are a big HTC fan, then I am sure that you know that this is HTC's trademark.
The phone's 3.7" capacitive touch screen display is protected by the tough Gorilla glass. You will notice how the glass screen protrudes from the phone's body by a mere.5mm. The phone's glass top is cut away in order for it to reveal a row of drilled holes intended for the phone's earpiece. If you look below the phone's earpiece, you will see the HTC logo (in silver). At the phone's bottom, you will see three capacitive buttons that will help you in navigating around the phone. If you are in a dark place, these capacitive buttons will light up.

If you look at the phone's right top edge, you will find the power/wake button. On the left part, you will find the 3.5mm headphone jack. The phone's volume rocker is on the right hand side. On the bottom left, you will find the Micro USB port for charging and connecting this handset to your computer.

The Samsung Galaxy Note is regarded by many consumers and industry experts as being the best mobile handset available with a screen larger than 5 inches. Since the launch of this model we have seen a handful of new devices launched that offer similar screen sizes. The latest of these new models is the Eluga Power, a new smartphone released by Panasonic. We see what how these handsets compare for processing power and we also take a look at storage capacity on both devices.
The two phones that we are looking at both incorporate very powerful chipsets that help the phones to deliver excellent operation speeds to the user. The Samsung Galaxy Note uses the excellent Exynos chipset that has been developed by Samsung. This very fast set up includes an ARM Cortex A9 processor which is clocked at 1.4Ghz. The processor chip incorporates dual cores which help the phone to really impress when it come to multi tasking. Accompanying this processor chip is an excellent Mali 400MP graphics processing unit. This set up is the same as what can be found in the best selling Galaxy S2 device although the processor is clocked slightly higher on the Galaxy Note to compensate for the large display. The Eluga Power runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon Krait architecture. This new type of chipset is very impressive and has also been incorporated on the excellent HTC One S. The model uses a dual core 1.5Ghz processor and an Adreno 225 GPU which is one of the very best graphics processors currently available. When we tested the HTC One S this chipset impressed us and we were equally as pleased with the results on the Eluga Power. There is little difference between the chipsets on both of these phones. The Panasonic may offer the slightly higher specification but in terms of operation speeds it is difficult to detect any difference between the phones.

Devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Note and the Eluga Power are perfect for watching and listening to a variety of multi media content and therefore storage capacity is an important area. The Note offers internal storage of 16GB which is enough capacity to store 4000 songs or 12 hours of video footage. This should prove ample for the average phone user but for consumers who do require a little more space there is also a 32GB version of the model available. In addition to the internal storage the model also features a micro SD card slot which means a further 32GB of storage is available if required. The Eluga Power also features an external card slot but the internal storage on the phone is half of what is offered on the Galaxy Note at just 8GB. This means that the device will still hold around 2000 audio tracks but only about 6 hours of video footage which is slightly disappointing considering that this is a phone designed to excel at video playback.
The Samsung Galaxy Note and the Panasonic Eluga Power are both powerful smartphones but the Krait chipset used on the Panasonic gives it a slight edge over the Samsung in this department. The Samsung does come out on top when it comes to storage capacity by offering double the capacity of the Eluga Power.

The Ice Cream Sandwich Keyboard- This is the first one on my list. You will also get the ICS keyboard functionality in the likes of speech to text, configurable auto-corrections, and more. With this, you can train your fingers before the official update comes to your phone.
The Ice Cream Sandwich Launcher- This is a competent copy of the real Ice Cream Sandwich. You will get features in the likes of Face Unlock, stock of wallpapers and dock, ICS look, and a whole lot more. In the next few weeks we are set to see the launch of the new Samsung Galaxy S3, the eagerly awaited new flagship handset from Samsung. It is widely expected that we will see the new iPhone 5 revealed soon afterwards as Apple are keen not to lose ground on their closest smartphone competitor. New rumours suggest that these two new devices will be focusing on the design of the handsets in a bid to catch the attention of the buying public.

The latest rumours to surface on the internet suggest that the new iPhone 5 will be constructed from a new liquid metal material. The iPhone 4S was the last major smartphone release from Apple and although this model was very pleasing on the eye many consumers complained about the rather delicate glass construction. Despite toughened glass being used on the front and back panel of this phone there were still numerous cases of the phone being damaged when dropped. Apple look to have taken this on board and will construct the new model from liquid metal. The use of this type of material means that the phone will not only be incredibly durable but it will also be much lighter in weight than previous versions of the phone. It is no secret that Apple currently have patents pertaining to liquid metals and in particular the materials use in the construction of mobile phones so do not be surprised if this is one rumour about the new phone that proves to be correct.

It looks as though the Apple iPhone 5 may not be the only handset that uses liquid metal in its construction as Samsung are also looking to use the same type of material on their new Galaxy S3 handset. With several major smartphone manufacturers offering very similar technical specification on their devices the design of the phone is becoming one of the most vital aspects. Apple have always been renowned for their ground breaking styling and Samsung will be keen to ensure that their technically superior phone can match their biggest rivals when it comes to design. We may not have long to wait to see if these rumours regarding the construction of these two new devices prove correct. Samsung are holding a major event on May 3rd where it is expected that the Galaxy S3 will be unveiled. We will probably have to wait until the end of the summer before we hear such news about the iPhone 5 but certainly by the time autumn arrives we will have had a chance to see both of these devices in the flesh.
The use of new materials on the iPhone 5 is no surprise as Apple attempt to give the handset an edge over its competitors. Given the success of the Samsung Galaxy S2 it is also no shock that the manufacturers are trying to compete with Apple in this area rather than focusing on more common designs that are offered by numerous other phone manufacturers.

We are now only a couple of days away from the official unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S3, the successor to the wildly popular Galaxy S2 which remains at the top of the Android smartphone sales charts. Although nothing is set in stone, plenty of rumours have been circulating around the internet in recent months, regarding its possible specifications.
One of the more interesting and highly likely features the handset is likely to include is NFC technology. NFC means 'Near Field Communication'. This has a number of real world applications, and although found on a few other handsets, the Samsung Galaxy S3 looks like it may be the handset to put this technology into the hands of the masses. So what does NFC actually do, and how can owners of the Samsung Galaxy S3 benefit from this technology?
NFC allows you to sync payment details like credit and debit cards, or Google Wallet. You can then use the phone to pay for goods simply by swiping the phone in front of a scanner at a checkout. This technology is likely to see a big investment in its infrastructure in the near future, with suggestions that many services could be compatible. For example, paying for public transport, movie tickets, coffee and fast food could all benefit from the convenience it provides.

It has been confirmed that a 1.4GHz quad-core processor will be included along with 2 GB of RAM, providing super fast performance from all manner of the phone's features. When the Samsung Galaxy Note was launched towards the end of 2011 the model grabbed the attention of the public with its very large display. In the following months since its release the handset has proved very popular and as a result a number of other manufacturers are launching phones with similarly sized displays. The newest model to offer a new super sized display is the new Eluga Power from Panasonic. We take a look at design and display technology on both of these models.
The Samsung Galaxy Note is a great looking handset which is best described as an enlarged version of the popular Galaxy S2 handset. This phone is never going to win any awards for its compact design and it is one of the largest phones on the market. While this may pose a problem for many smartphones this giant size is quite intentional on this device as it is intended to bridge the gap that exists between the smartphone and tablet markets. The model measures 146.9 x 83 x 9.7mm and weighs 178 grammes. The slim depth of this phone is particularly appealing and it contrasts well with the large dimensions of the screen. The models offers a very angular design with very gentle curves present at all four corners. When you first cast your eyes over the new Panasonic Eluga Power you notice just how rectangular in design this model is. There are hardly any curves present and this works really well on such a large phone. The device boasts dimensions of 136x70x9.6mm and a weight of just 133 grammes which is considerably less than the Samsung although the screen is slightly smaller. An attractive thin bezel surrounds the screen which dominates the fascia and the edges of the chassis are nicely contoured. It is hard to say which of these two phones offers the better design. Both models are very attractive in their own way and both should prove a big success with consumers.

The key selling point with both of these devices is their large screens so as you would expect both models sport some excellent display technology. The Samsung Galaxy Note incorporates a 5.3 inch screen that runs on the very latest Super AMOLED technology. This type of screen delivers very vivid colours and superb viewing angles. In terms of resolution the model can show 1280 x 800 pixels which means a total pixel density of 285PPI can be displayed. This excellent quality makes the handset perfect for web browsing and viewing multi media content. The Eluga Power features a slightly smaller 5 inch screen which uses LCD technology. The resolution of the screen is slightly lower than the Samsung at 1280 x 720 pixels but because of the smaller screen size the pixel density is actually higher at 294PPI. Once again both models are very closely matched in terms of screen performance. The Panasonic has the slight edge in terms of pixel density but the Super AMOLED screen used on the Samsung delivers more vivid colours and deeper blacks.
The Samsung Galaxy Note and the Panasonic Eluga Power are two perfect devices for consumers looking for a large screen device but not wanting something as large as a tablet. Both of these models boast an attractive design while screen quality is also impressive although the Samsung may hold a slight advantage in this area thanks to the use of Super AMOLED technology.

When it comes to design we tend to favour the very modern Nokia Lumia 900 device as it boasts styling which is superior to the majority of handsets currently on the market. The handset measures 127.8 x 68.5 x 11.5mm which makes it the largest Lumia device in the range. The handset is still considerably smaller than the Galaxy Note however which measures 146.9 x 83 x 9.7mm although this model does offer a screen which is one inch larger. Because of its more compact dimensions the Nokia generally feels more comfortable when in use and is also 19 grammes less in weight than its rival. The Lumia is a very well designed phone which sports an angular design similar to other Lumia devices and also the popular N9 handset. The model boasts a uni body chassis which adds to the aesthetic appeal and this is constructed from a high quality polycarbonate material. The model is also available in a range of colours which helps to make it one of the very best phones for consumers who rate looks as highly as performance. The Samsung Galaxy Note is best described as an enlarged version of the Galaxy S2 model. The device sports a minimalist design with neatly rounded corners and a textured back panel. The design of the model is actually more attractive than the majority of phones available but the device loses points for its sheer size which many would suggest makes the phone look like a small tablet device rather than a smartphone. A new white version of the Note has been launched which will please consumers who like to steer clear of the more common black and dark grey devices.

Although the size of the screen on the Samsung Galaxy Note may deter some consumers, the quality that it offers is superb. The models uses a Super AMOLED display which measures 5.3 inches which makes it the largest phone screen currently available. An impressive pixel density of 285 pixels per inch can be displayed thanks to the very high resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. What is also very pleasing about this display is the natural depth of colour that it can can show. Black colours genuinely look black unlike the dark greys that can often be found on many inferior screens. This is thanks to the Super AMOLED technology which is undoubtedly the best type of screen for providing dark tones. The Nokia Lumia 900 uses a smaller 4.3 inch display which runs on AMOLED technology. This model can display a lower resolution than the Samsung of 800 x 480 pixels but despite the smaller screen size the pixel density if considerably lower at 217PPI which is slightly disappointing for a flagship device. The clarity of picture is very good and like the Galaxy Note there is a good depth of colour but the Samsung certainly offers more in the way of quality in this area.
The Samsung Galaxy Note and the Nokia Lumia 900 are two impressive new devices which benefit from high quality displays. We prefer the Nokia handset for design as it is a more manageable size than its rival but when it comes to screen quality the Galaxy Note definitely holds the upper hand.
When the iPhone 4S was launched in October 2011 it was the most advanced mobile handset available and as a result scores of consumers were eager to get theirs hands on one of the devices. As time passes however technology moves on and now the specification of the 4S is more comparable with a high quality mid range device rather than one of the new premium handsets that are available. As a result of this we have seen the price of the iPhone also decrease slightly over this period. We see how the model compares with the new HTC One S, one of the leading new mid range phones, for screen technology and design.

The iPhone 4S boasts a very unique design which is part of the reason why it has been so popular with consumers. The model perfectly combines two glass panels with a slim steel strip which is sandwiched in between them. When you actually handle the phone it feels very premium and part of the reason for this is that it weighs 140 grammes which is slightly heavier than many of the new models that are being released. The glass design of the phone is actually very durable which is somewhat surprising and this is thanks to Apple using Gorilla Glass in the design which is much tougher than traditional panels. The chassis design was first used on the iPhone 4 in 2010 and despite its age it still compares favourably with many new models that are being launched. The HTC One S is also a very stylish phone and one could argue that it is the best looking device that HTC have ever released. The model uses a metallic chassis which has undergone an oxidising treatment during its manufacture which gives it an impressive finish and also helps to make it more durable. The model is slightly larger than the Apple device but it does feature a larger screen so this is to be expected. The HTC handset offers a much more curved design and the appearance of the phone could almost be described as pebble like. Both of these handsets boast excellent design and while the iPhone 4S may offer the more unusual materials one could argue that the gentle curves of the One S are more aesthetically pleasing.

At its time of release the iPhone 4S had the highest quality screen available and it still remains one of the best examples of display technology on the market. The Retina display used on this phone uses LED backlit technology to produce an excellent resolution of 960 x 640 pixels. This enables the handset to display a pixel density of 326PPI. This is actually a level that exceeds what the human eye can detect and this is why the screen has been affectionately named the Retina Display. The one disadvantage with this display is that it is one of the smallest of any current smartphone at just 3.5 inches. The HTC One S uses a larger 4.3 inch Super AMOLED screen. Technically this screen is superior to the LED panel on the Apple device as it can produce more vivid colours and more natural depth. The resolution however is lower at 960 x 540 and combined with the larger display means that pixel density on this model drops to just 256 pixels per inch. Although the technology found on the One S is very impressive the screen cannot deliver the image clarity of the 4S thanks to the superb pixel density offered by the Apple phone.
Despite being one of the older phones on the market the iPhone 4S still manages to hold its own against many of the newer handsets that are being released. When compared to the HTC One X it was hard to fault either phone in terms of design but when we looked at screen performance the Apple device still offered a superior picture.
There are no specifics yet when it comes to the up and coming Samsung Galaxy S3. What we have right now are clues from its predecessors, the Galaxy S and Galaxy S2. But then again, it is better to have some kind of information than not to have any idea at all. If you are scared that this phone will never show its face at all, then worry and be afraid no more. This is because this handset is coming for sure. Yes I was able to say that, simply because Samsung sent out invites to bloggers and industry experts for the much-awaited unveiling of this handset. And it will happen on the 3rd of May at London's Earls Court Exhibition Centre at exactly 7PM. According to popular rumors, the Galaxy S3 will sport a bigger display. It is said to pack a 4.6" Super AMOLED Plus capacitive touch screen display. It sure beats the S2's 4.3" Super AMOLED Plus capacitive touch screen at a mere .3" only. It's bigger no matter what. It will also come in with a higher screen resolution at 720 x 1280 pixels and with a pixel density of 319 ppi. The S2 comes in with only a 480 x 800 pixels and with a pixel density of 217 ppi. There, you see that the current S2 resolution is upgraded to a higher number. If you find the S2's display as awesome right now, imagine what the new Galaxy S3 is capable of feeding your eyes? Pictures will truly come alive and colors will simply pop out of the screen like never before.

The S3 is said to pack a 12MP Shutter. Again, this is such a wonderful upgrade to the S2's 8MP Shutter. With the said 12MP camera, you will get a resolution of 4000 x 3000 pixels as opposed to its predecessor's 3264 x 2448 pixels. Now, there are more and higher pixels on this new Galaxy S handset. But the two handsets are the same when it comes to video recording. They can both record videos at 1080 pixels and at 30 frames per second (fps).
The latest Galaxy handset is sure to ship with the latest Android Iteration. This is perhaps the only sure thing about this handset. Its predecessor originally shipped with the Android Gingerbread OS but recently received its Ice Cream Sandwich Update. Now, both are on the same level when it comes to Operating Systems.
As you can see, the Samsung Galaxy S3 is an upgrade of the famous and top-selling Samsung Galaxy S2. Only this time it comes with a bigger screen and new features that I am sure you will also find enjoyable.

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus was the first mobile handset to be released with the new Ice Cream Sandwich version of the Android operating system installed. Since we have seen the introduction of this model a number of new devices have arrived that also boast the updated software. We see how the Nexus compares with the Sony Xperia S, one of the most impressive ICS handsets currently on the market. We take a look at design and screen technology on both of these models to see which handset comes out on top.

The Sony Xperia S is the first handset introduced to the Xperia range since Sony took full control from former partner Ericsson. Despite this change the model still looks very similar to many previous Xperia phones that have been launched which is pleasing as the phones are generally regarded as some of the best designed devices available. The model measures 128 x 64 x 10.6mm and weighs just 144 grammes. The model offers a very angular design when you look at it from the front yet when it is turned over the back panel sports a gentle curve that helps the device to sit very comfortably in the palm of your hand. Sony have added some design changes in order to make this new range stand out from older models that they have produced. A transparent bar sits beneath the three capacitive buttons which are located below the screen. This bar contains LED lights which highlight the buttons above it and it certainly helps the device achieve a look that is very different from all other devices. Samsung always produce stylish devices and the Galaxy Nexus is no different. The model offers a design which is much curvier than its rival and this works particularly well on a large handset such as this than it does on many smaller screened devices. The model measures 135.5 x 67.9 x 8.9mm and weighs just 135 grammes. You will notice that both the depth measurement and the weight are less than the Xperia S which will help the model to appeal to many consumers. The screen dominates the fascia and is surrounded by a very slim bezel which means that the display almost covers the entire front panel which looks great. Despite different designs both of these handset looks superb and are two of the nicest looking handsets on the market. Consumer looking for a more angular design will obviously favour the Sony while those wanting a softer and curvier finish will be more attracted to the Galaxy Nexus.

Things are not so evenly matched when we look at the screen technology incorporated on both models. The Sony Xperia S boasts the superior screen to the Xperia S and just about every other phone currently available. The model sports an LED backlit LCD screen which measures 4.3 inches. This screen can produce an extremely high resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels which results in an iPhone 4S beating pixel density of 342PPI. Colours look bright and vivid and we also found that viewing the screen in bright conditions was also very impressive. The Samsung Galaxy Nexus uses a larger display that makes use of the company's own Super AMOLED technology. In terms of resolution the Nexus offers the same standard as the Sony but on a larger 4.65 inch display. This has a negative effect on pixel density which drops to 316PPI. This type of quality is enough to eclipse most other phones on the market and the screen does work extremely well. Unfortunately for Samsung the Xperia S is a market leader in this area and therefore impresses us more for image quality.
The Sony Xperia S and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus are two superb new handsets that both boast the very latest version of the Android operating system. Both models sport striking yet very different designs but the Sony impresses us more for screen technology thanks to its wonderful display.
