Chipsets And Camera Features On The Nokia Lumia 900 And The HTC One X
Do you like this story?
This year we are expecting the Windows Mobile operating system to compete much more closely with other leading platforms such as Android and iOS. The new Nokia Lumia 900 is the best Windows device currently available thanks to its high quality display and powerful chipset. We see how this model shapes up in terms of processing power and camera features against the flagship Android device from HTC, the impressive One X.
HTC One X Vs Nokia Lumia 900 |
As you would expect from two premium models both of these handsets offer powerful chipsets that enable users to carry out a variety of tasks at excellent speeds. The HTC One X runs on the superb Nvidia Tegra 3 chipset which includes a powerful quad core processor. This ARM Cortex A9 chip delivers superb multi tasking speeds thanks the four cores and the excellent 1.5Ghz of power that it offers. This processor is teamed with a ULP Geforce graphics processing unit which easily handles demanding video content and games titles. This set up works superbly but at present much of the software included on the phone cannot take full advantage of all four cores and normally relies on just two. As software advances we can expect this model to offer even more impressive operating speeds. The Nokia Lumia 900 uses an APQ Scorpion 8055 processor which is clocked at 1.4Ghz. This chip only boasts a single operating core but still manages to deliver superb operating speeds thanks to the power efficiency of the Windows operating system. An Adreno 205 GPU is also present on the phone to help the device handle complex content that can be found on many modern games. Despite the HTC offering quad core technology at this moment in time there is little to choose between these handset in terms of operating speeds. As software develops that can make more use of quad core technology we can expect the One X to deliver superior times.
The Nokia Lumia 900 incorporates an excellent camera facility that can capture high quality still images and impressive video footage. The model sports an 8 mega pixel still camera together with a high quality Carl Zeiss lens. This combination helps the model to capture excellent results. A number of features are on hand to help users to record the best possible images including a dual LED flash and a useful smile detection feature that captures the image the exact moment that your subjects smile. The HTC One X also includes an 8 mega pixel camera which benefits from a high quality BSI sensor. This helps the model produce snaps of a similar quality to the Nokia but the handsets offers much more in the way of additional features. All of the usual extras are present on this model as well as some more unusual technology not usually found on modern smartphones. The handsets features a dedicated camera chip so images can be taken at the same time as video footage is being recorded. A very useful burst mode can record a series of 20 photographs captured just a fraction of a second apart. This allows users to look at the series of shots and pick the best image to store and discard the rest.
The Nokia Lumia 900 and the HTC One X both deliver very similar operation speeds although the quad core technology present on the HTC will benefit the handset in the future. In terms of photography the models offer a similar standard of image quality but the HTC impresses us more thanks to the sheer number of excellent additional features that it incorporates.
