Choosing Between The LG Optimus 4X HD And Huawei Ascend D Quad

If you are interested in smartphones, you may be aware of some of the new flagship devices which were recently revealed by several manufacturers at this year's MWC event in Barcelona. Among the two most impressive devices were the LG Optimus 4X HD and the Huawei Ascend D Quad. In this article I will compare a few key features of both of these phones so you can decide which one comes out on top.
LG Optimus 4X HD
Screen
With the wealth of content available from smartphones these days, such as HD movies, downloaded apps and graphic rich interfaces, the quality of a phone's screen has never been so important. Both of these phones really impress in this area and show just how much smartphone technology has advanced since the flagship releases at last year's MWC. The LG Optimus 4X HD the larger screen of the two, which instantly gives it appeal to those who like to watch movies or play games on their phone. It has an HD screen with a resolution of 720x 1280 which allows high definition to be displayed. The HD-IPS LCD screen provides great levels of brightness and colour rendering which also ensures it remains highly responsive to touch. The Huawei Ascend D Quad has an IPS+ LCD screen, which is very similar in terms of display quality, sharing the same resolution, although it is slightly smaller at 4.5 inches. As a result, the pixel density is actually higher as the pixels are packed into a smaller area.

Storage
Because smartphones are now more versatile than ever, there is a greater need for adequate storage within these devices. This is because users can instantly capture photos and HD movies, and download a wealth of different apps. These kinds of files are larger than the VGA quality videos and lower resolution photos which were previously the norm on smartphones. Luckily both the LG Optimus 4X HD and the Huawei Ascend D Quad have adequate storage for such files. The LG handset has 16GB built in to the handset, whereas the Huawei phone has 8GB. Both these levels of storage are great for getting started; however both phones come with expandable storage in the form of a microSD slot. This can accommodate a card of up to 32GB, providing a relatively inexpensive way to increase the storage.

Processor
Both handsets are among the very small number of smartphones which boast a quad-core processor. this buts both the Huawei Ascend D Quad and the LG Optimus 4X HD at the top of the market in terms of processing power. The LG handset has a slightly more powerful processor because of its 1.5 GHz clockspeed compared to the 1.2 GHz of the Ascend D Quad. This is only a trivial difference though, and you are unlikely to notice the difference between the two during use.

Alongside the features already mentioned, both phones offer similar 8 megapixel cameras with 1080p video capture, as well as the latest and most advanced Android 'Ice Cream Sandwich' operating system. Choosing between these phones is very difficult; as you can see, both share several traits. On paper I would say that the LG Optimus 4X HD comes out slightly ahead due to its higher storage capacity, slightly higher processing power and larger screen.
